I believe that art is a human-crafted expression. 

Consider the evolution of the visual arts. After cave paintings, humans adopted the brush. The brush was a tool used to create the art, but the brush did not create the art itself. It was an extension of the human-crafted expression. Without a brush, there would have been another tool used to convey the artist’s emotion and expression.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about SoundEngine in the Age of AI. I’ve concluded that AI is a tool that can be used in the processes of a sound creation business. I think, however, that in the creation of artistic sound expression, it should be used as a tool to assist in the creation, much like a paintbrush.

I may use AI tools to assist with marketing, product descriptions, video editing, and “back-office” activities, but I will only deliver sound content that has been recorded, edited, and reviewed by a human. It’s why I do what I do – it’s the fun part for me.

My commitment

I believe the future of music and audio production is human. Machines cannot replicate emotional judgment or cultural taste. As lead sound designer, the SoundEngine policy will be to ethically generate every sample pack and preset bank we offer.
