Dexed is a wonderful, free FM synthesizer for music-making. Taking everything from the classic Yamaha DX7 and adding a few new features, it can be a staple “go-to” FM synthesizer in your kit. What’s great about Dexed is that all of the elements of the DX7 are there, with a few new modern synthesis features like a low-pass filter, MPE support, and micro-tuning. Together with the price (free), it’s hard to beat. Dexed is an open-source project housed at GitHub – there is no company connected to it, and as a result, the documentation available is somewhat sparse.
SoundEngine’s Dexed Owner’s Manual aims to help with that.
In our Owner’s Manual, we walk you through downloading and installing, loading new sounds, getting Dexed running in your DAW, and understanding the User Interface. More importantly, we get you making sounds – simple at first, then more complex. We also offer a set of hands-on tutorials. We encourage you to sign up for our Dexed Mailing list because you won’t want to miss an issue of a new tutorial, a new batch of sounds, or updates to our existing Dexed product line.
